JEE Advance Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)

IIT JEE Advance Architecture Aptitude Test also known as AAT is conducted every year for the candidates who wish to take admission in the BArch programme offered by the IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee. For admission in B.Arch course in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee, AAT examination has been made mandatory. One of the most important eligibility for appearing in AAT is to qualify JEE Advanced. However, it is important for every candidate to note that admission to undergraduate architecture courses will not be as per AAT rank or score rather it will be is based on candidate’s rank in JEE Advanced.

 

To pursue B.Arch from IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee, qualifying AAT is mandatory. There is no admission on the basis of NATA or IIT JEE Paper 2/3. 

To appear in AAT, candidates will be required to register separately after JEE Advanced Result. Another important thing to note is that the exam conducting authorities will not issue a separate admit card for AAT. Candidates have to use their JEE Advanced Admit Card for appearing in the exam.

There are 35 seats available in IIT Roorkee and 45 seats in IIT Kharagpur for Bachelors in Architecture (B.Arch) course and admissions are based on AAT scores. 

 

The pattern of AAT 2021 examination will be as follows-

  • The examination will be only in English and the duration is 3 hours for answering 16 questions. 

  • Mode of AAT 2021 Examination: English

  • Total Allotted Time for AAT 2021: 3 Hours (180 Minutes)

  • Total Number of Questions to Be Answered: 16

 

There are no set exam patterns as per the AAT previous examination papers. Overall there will five section in AAT examination. 

  • Section 1 - General Knowledge (4 Questions)

  • Section 2 - 3D Aspects in Architecture (3 Questions)

  • Section 3 - Geometry drawing (3 Questions)

  • Section 4 - Imagination and aesthetic sensitivity (3 Questions)

  • Section 5 - Freehand drawing (3 Questions)

 

The results of AAT will be announced on the official website of JEE Advanced. The candidate has to use his/her JEE Advanced registration credentials for logging into the portal and see the AAT 2021 results. 

In the end, the counselling and selection process for AAT exam will be through JoSAA in IIT Kharagpur or IIT Roorkee. Students will be allotted seats in these two institutes. Studying B.Arch in IITs will not only give students quality level architectural training but also help improve the overall growth of architecture study and developments in India.
