National Aptitude Test in ARCHITECTURE (NATA)
National Aptitude test in architecture (NATA) is a countrywide undergraduate exam that's carried out with the aid of Council of Architecture (COA) for admission into 5 Year B.Arch program.
Through NATA, candidates can get admission into B.Arch program conducted by Government, Government-Aided, Privately Funded Institutes and Deemed Universities.

From onwards, NATA has scrapped drawing examination. Now instead of multiple sections in examination, NATA will have two sections that will comprise of questions related to Architecture, Mathematics, Physics and General Awareness. Question paper will comprise of 125 questions in the form of MSQ, MCQ, NAQ & PCQ.
NATA ensures the applicants eligibility for admission to five year B.Arch path, as prescribed via CoA and duly accepted by the crucial authorities.

With National Testing Agency holding JEE Mains twice a year from 2019, CoA, keeping it fair, announced NATA to be held twice too. So, now every students will get a fair chance to attempt the exam twice and improve their score.

Only candidates who qualify 10+2 or equivalent examination of Central/ State Govts. with 50% aggregate with Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry as a compulsory subject OR 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Govts. with minimum of 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics, will be only eligible for B.Arch program as per COA.

Brief Syllabus for NATA
Architecture Aptitude

Reasonings- Diagrammatic, Numerical, Verbal, Inductive, Situational Judgement, Logical, Abstract.

Elements and principles of design, aesthetic sensitivity, colour theory, lateral thinking and logical reasoning, visual perception and cognition, graphics and imagery, building anatomy and architectural vocabulary

Basic techniques of building construction and knowledge of architectural materials

2 Dimensional and 3 Dimensional figures reasoning, for example- Top View, Front View, Counting of Surfaces, etc.

Mathematic

Algebra, Logarithms, Matrices, Trigonometry, Coordinate geometry, 3 Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Theory of Calculus, Application of Calculus, Permutation and combination, Statistics and Probability.

Physics
Although NATA haven't specified enough for syllabus of Physics for NATA , but there are great chances that complete NATA paper will be based on topics such as Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, Atoms and Nuclie, Electronic Devices and etc.
Exam Pattern for NATA
Exam Mode​
Unlike previous years, in NATA 2021 exam will be conducted completely online.
Type of Questions
There will be total 125 questions in four different format
MCQ, MSQ, NAQ & PCQ
Maximum & Minimum Marks
To qualify NATA 2021, 75 will be Minimum marks to be scored whereas 200 will be maximum
Marks per Questions
There won't be any negative marking but based on difficulty of questions, it will categorised into 1,2 or marks questions
Duration of Exam
Overall duration of exam will be of 180 mins i.e. 3 hrs. No time limit for individual questions
Language of Exam Paper
The medium of Aptitude test will be the English language only.
Eligibility for NATA
1.
The eligibility for admission to 1st year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree program for the academic session 2021- 2022 shall be as per CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 2020 or as may be amended by the Central Government.

Candidates need to pass 10+2 scheme of examination with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as a mandatory subjects, or 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a mandatory subject.
3.
No direct lateral admission is allowed at any year/semester/stage of B.Arch. course based on any qualification.
4.
As per Council of Architecture, qualifying NATA is mandatory for seeking admission in B.Arch program across India except in IIT's, SPA's, NIT's and CFTI's

Are Mathematics and Drawing included in NATA syllabus?No. In NATA 2021, Drawing section won't be there at all. Where as Mathematics will be ask. NATA 2021 will be conducted as a single section examination. General knowledge of the candidates related to mathematics and drawing may be assessed in the aptitude section only.

Is there will be Negative marking in NATA ?No, there is no negative marking in NATA 2021 exam

Which entrance exams are important to qualify to be an Architect in India?As per Council of Architecture (COA) India, to be an Architect, you need to qualify either JEE Paper 2 or NATA after class 12th. Without qualifying these examination, admission to B.Arch is not at all possible.

How many attempts are there for NATA ? Is it necessary to appear for both attempts?There are two attemps of NATA in 2021. First on 10th April 2021 and Second on 12th June 2021. A candidate can appear for either one or both. The highest of both scores will be considered for admission into B.Arch college.

What is the validity of NATA scorecard?NATA 2021 score shall be valid only for admission in the academic session 2021- 2022

What is the key difference between JEE Paper 2 and NATA?JEE Paper 2 is for getting admission in B.Arch in most prestigious central government colleges across India such as SPA's, NIT's & CFTI's, whereas NATA is an entrance examination for pursuing B.Architecture from State Government Architecture Colleges and Private Institutes across India.

How students can register for NATA?Students who are aspiring to appear in NATA entrance exam can visit NATA offical website at www.nata.in and make themself register by due process stated. The registration for NATA 2021 began for Phase 1 & 2 on March 05, and the entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted on April 10 & June 12 respectively.

What is the eligiblity for NATA registration?Candidate who have qualifiedtheir 10+2 examinaion with Mathematics, Pgysics & Chemistry as a compulsory subject or Diploma Holders who have passed the 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. Candidates must be 17 years old minimum as on 31st January of the last year.

Does 12th Percentage matter in Nata?As per latest notifications, Government has scraped the mandatory requirements of minimum 50% marks in 10+2 or 10+3 qualifying examination. In the year 2021, paasing 10+2 or 10+3 qualifying examination will make you eligible for NATA but 10+2 or 10+3 marks will matter in getting into colleges with NATA score.

Does IIT accept NATA score?No, B.Arch in IIT's can only be pursue by sucessfuly qualifying JEE Advance and Architecture Aptitude Test. NATA scores are not taken into account for admission in B.Arch program in IIT's.
