Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) registration is now open for 2021 admissions

The authorities will be conducting GATE 2021 COAP counselling from May 13. GATE 2021 COAP will be the centralised counselling procedure done for admission into PG Engineering programs in all participating IITs and ISc Bangalore. Candidates with valid GATE score from the year 2019, 2020 or 2021 will be eligible to participate in GATE COAP counselling 2021. Candidates will be required to register and fill in the choice of programmes and institutes. Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is a portal where candidates will be able to check the result and seat allotment done by the GATE participating institutes.


COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Programme in the participating Institutes or job offer from participating Public Sector Units (PSU's). Eight institutes (IIT Bombay, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Indore, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee) joined in COAP 2017 and seventeen institutes participated in COAP 2018. In 2019, twenty one institutes and a PSU NPCIL came together and participated in COAP for filling their M.Tech. seats or job vacancies. In the previous year 2020, twenty one Institutes (IISc, IIT Bhilai, IIT BHU, IIT Bbs, IITB, IITD, IIT Goa, IITG, IITH, IITI, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, IIT Jodhpur, IITK, IITKgp, IITM, IIT Mandi, IIT Palakkad, IITP, IITR, IIT Ropar, IIT Tirupati) joined the COAP 2020.


GATE COAP 2021 Dates

COAP registration for 2021 is been started from March 25, 2021. COAP Seat Allotment Round will be as follows.

Round 1- May 13 & 14, 2021

Round 2- May 20 & 21, 2021

Round 3- May 27 & 28, 2021

Round 4- June 03 & 04, 2021

Round 5- June 10 & 11, 2021


Round 1-4 of main rounds, Candidates have all the three options to select. The working flow chart of options can be seen in the following link.

However, candidates will not be able to choose Retain & Wait more than twice on a specific offer.


Round 5 is a Decisive Round, therefore the candidates will have only 'Accept and Freeze' and 'Reject' options to select.
